Nellie Faye Elam Carpenter

Nellie Faye Carpenter, 91, "Nanny", a resident of Jackson, LA, died on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She was a native of Corinth, MS and worked for East Louisiana State Hospital for over twenty-five years. There will be a visitation on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at the Second Baptist Church of Jackson from 9:00 am until funeral services at 11:00 am, conducted by Rev. Clark Fooshee. Burial will be at the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons: Tommy Larry Sagely and wife Jean of Jackson, LA; Alan Perry Sagely and wife Eileen of Greensburg; one sister, Nila Mae Dixon; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tester and Bertha Elam, son Steve Wood, three brothers: Homer Orbie Elam, Aaron McKinley Elam, and Rufus Gene Elam, one grandchild, Morgan Christine Sagely, and brother-in-law Wallace Dixon. Pallbearers will be Scott Sagely, Perry Sagely II, Jeremie Sagely, Kyle Sagely, Bobby Nations III, Kolby Sagely. Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Nations Jr. She was a member of Second Baptist church for nearly 6 decades and a proud quilter for the sewing group that made blankets for the VA homes and those in need.
