E. Linnea Benson, 101, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025. Surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was the widow of Walter M. Benson of Warwick for 66 years. She was the daughter of the late Arthur J. And Julia L. (Stuns) Carlson.
Linnea was a secretary for Leesona Manufacturing Corp. for many years before leaving to devote her life to her family and church. She was a founding member and served most of her life at Cranston Christian Fellowship. She was a Sunday School Teacher along side of her husband, and opened her house up to many Weds. night care groups. She loved singing classic church hymns and praying for everyone. She was a life long avid reader, sometimes reading 5 books a week. She was passionate about spirituality, faith and family. Linnea will be remembered for her unconditional love, feistiness, and wisdom.
Mrs. Benson is survived by her two grandchildren: Jennifer Lawless and Jason Lawless, of Cranston; and a great-grandchild: Jacob Joseph Lawless of Lowell, Mass. She is predeceased by three sisters: Helen, Nancy, and Esther originally from Hillsgrove, Warwick.
Visitation will be held on Sunday 6-8pm at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick. A funeral service will be held on Monday March 24, 2025 at 11am in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingston.
