Her favorite Bible verse was Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
She leaves behind her daughter, Connie Moore and her husband, Michael, of North Brookfield; her son, Darryl Small and his wife, Lydia, of Coventry, CT; her son, Michael Small and his girlfriend, Suzanne, of Haverhill, NH; her son Thomas Small (predeceased 2021); her beloved grandchildren, Garrett Moore and Bryden Stoner, and their spouses, Jennifer and Cory, respectively; her beloved granddaughter, Emily Small; and her two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Collyn Moore. She also leaves her sister, Mary McGrail of North Brookfield; her sister, Edith Hubacz and her husband, Andrew, of North Brookfield; her brother, David Lane of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Joan graduated from North Brookfield High School, and she went on to work as a secretary for companies including Quabaug Corporation, and then as the main office secretary for North Brookfield Elementary School for many years until her retirement in 2016. She was a member of the East Brookfield Baptist Church for many years, and enjoyed participation in Choir, Sunday School, Women’s Ministries, Bible Studies, and Church Treasurer. Joan's favorite activities were spending time with family, visiting friends, reading favorite Bible verses, bird watching, going out to lunch, traveling, and time at her favorite beaches.
