Earl Dean Baxter, age 93, of Carleton, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Corewell Hospital in Trenton, Michigan.
Born on July 15, 1931 in Downers Grove, Illinois, he was the son of Willard and Jennie (Croasdale) Baxter. On September 21, 1957 he married Alice Kish.
He was employed with Post Cereal as a machine operator. Earl was a member of the Flat Rock American Legion Post 337. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Management Administration. He loved camping in his motor home with his wife while traveling the US. He enjoyed fishing and carving birds out of wood. He loved his cats and dogs, gardening, as well as boating and tubing with his grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Dean W. Baxter, sisters, Sally Perron and Janice Kelt.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie McDonald, sons-in-law, Robert Baxter and Karl McDonald, grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) McCalla, Jeffrey (Blanca) McDonald, James (Lisa) McDonald, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters, Marjorie Doty and Beth Hinton.
Memorial Gathering will be held at VFW Post 9363 on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Military Honors will take place at 3:30 pm.
