Earl Edward North, age 85, of New Albany, IN, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 6, 2024.
He was born on March 23, 1939, to Virgil and Mildred (Faith) North in Mauckport, IN. Earl attended South Central High School in Elizabeth, IN. He dedicated 31 years of his life to the Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, IN. On August 1, 1975, he married the love of his life, Rozella Bowles. Earl was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His passions included tuning in to the Rush Limbaugh radio show, following politics, meticulously mowing his lawn, attending church services, and extending a helping hand to others. Above all, he cherished moments spent with his family and friends, particularly relishing the joy of attending his grandchildren's ball games.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mildred North; three brothers, Wilbur "Buster" Faith, Billy North, and James North; one sister-in-law, Carletta North; and two sons-in-law, Joseph Carroll and David Langdon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years; one son, Dennis Jay North; three daughters, Marla Carroll, Shari Langdon, Karen (Doug) Engle; one brother, Elvis (Betty); seven grandchildren, Dennis (Shannon) Carroll, Austin Carroll, Amanda Langdon, Joshua (Jamie) Langdon, Jaycob Langdon, Abigayle (Nick) Wagner, Alexander Engle; two great-granddaughters, Avery Carroll and Mila Lynn Langdon; two sisters-in-law, Alice Combs (Mike) and Dorothy Booth (Bill); and a devoted niece, Patty Simpson, who was always there to lend support.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lincoln Hills Memory Care Unit for their exceptional care, love, and support.
Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 8 pm on Monday, May 13, 2024, and again on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm at Swarens Funeral Home, Ramsey, IN.
Funeral services will be conducted 12 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey, IN.
Burial will follow at the Thompson Chapel Cemetery in Depauw, IN.
