Earl Scargill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Earle Funeral Home - Blackwood on Dec. 13, 2025.
Earl W. Scargill, Jr., affectionately known as Bill to his friends and family, passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on August 7, 1965, Bill was a man whose laughter and generosity enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Marlene Scargill, and their cherished daughter, Victoria P. Scargill. He was the treasured son of Barbara and Earl W. Scargill, Sr. Bill's memory will be held dear by his siblings: John Scargill and his wife Suzanne, Brian Scargill and his wife Kelly, Keith Scargill and his wife Lori, and his sister Heather Harris. His sister-in-law Agnes Torres, along with many adoring nieces and nephews, will also feel his absence deeply. Lets not forget all the friends he made throughout his life journey especially those kids that called him Tio (Uncle) Bill. Bill's feline companion, Natasha, will miss his gentle touch and warm presence.

A proud graduate of Highland High School in 1983, Bill's thirst for knowledge led him to Rutgers University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business. His academic journey continued at Drexel University, where he achieved an MBA in Business Administration. Bill's professional life was marked by dedication and excellence. He began his career at XEROX, where he worked for many years, met his current wife Marlene. Bill later joined Canon Business Solutions serving as a Financial Leasing Agent for 17 years.

Bill's involvement with the Kappa Sigma Epsilon fraternity at Rutgers University was a source of lifelong friendships and cherished memories. As a member of the South Jersey Athletic Club in Haddonfield, NJ, Bill's passion for running was evident. He completed 50 marathons and numerous triathlons, a testament to his determination, endurance and love for the sport.

Music brought joy to Bill's life, especially the tunes of the Beach Boys, which could often be heard filling the rooms of his home. He also found happiness in salsa dancing with his beloved Marlene. Bill's commitment to his community was demonstrated through his role as a Boy Scout Leader, where he mentored young individuals with kindness and wisdom.

Selfless, generous, and funny are the words that best describe Bill. His selflessness was seen in the way he put others before himself, his generosity in the way he gave without + expecting anything in return, and his sarcasm brought light and humor into even the darkest of rooms. Bill's legacy is not only in the accomplishments he achieved, but in the love he shared and the lives he touched.

Bill Scargill, Jr. lived a life full of purpose and joy. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, yet his memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

The visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. The inurnment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 500 Delsea Dr, Sewell, NJ.
