Earldean Sullivan "Deanie" Gilbert

Earldean "Deanie" Sullivan Gilbert, age 82, passed away on December 28, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on October 4, 1943, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Haley Ward and Earl Sullivan.

Deanie was the beloved wife of Charles "Eugene" Gilbert, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and devotion. She and Eugene took on the raising of three of her siblings at a very young age along with their two young daughters due to her parents early passing.

She was a proud and loving mother to her daughters Darla Horn with her husband, Gary Horn and Joy Romo with her husband, Roy Romo; and a cherished grandmother to four grandchildren Jennifer Burks, Laura Walton, Chad Payne and Cassie Payne; and seven great-grandchildren Mason, Ace, Landon, Owen, Drew, Arrow and Clyde, all of whom brought her immense joy. She is also survived by three sisters Vera, Charlotte and Brenda; one brother Charles; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Darrell Eugene Gilbert, in 1966, and her beloved schnauzer, Barney, who held a special place in her heart. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rose and brother, Donnie.

Deanie enjoyed going to the casinos, swimming, reading, and sipping her favorite Cherry Coke. Above all else, she deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and treasured the time she spent with them.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Jeter and Son Funeral Home.

Deanie will be remembered for her love of family, her warmth, and the joy she brought to those who knew her.
