Earlene Shamblin was born June 22, 1937 in Porum, Ok to Pearl (Jones) and Jess Benton. She went to school at Van & Ross Public Schools. She married Richard Shamblin on June 7, 1954 at Webbers Falls, where they had a farm and raised six kids.
She loved to cook, and made the best chicken and dumplings, homemade biscuits & butter rolls. She taught all the kids how to cook, making a meal from nothing. She also loved to sew, making clothes & quilts for the whole family and teaching the kids to sew also. She also loved to read and do puzzle books and taught all the boys how to drive the tractors.
Survivors are: one sister, Mary Jo Wright of Porum, two daughters: Linda & husband John Pollard of Webbers Falls, Wanda and husband Randy Swimmer of Fort Gibson, three sons: Stoney and wife Sheila of Webbers Falls, Earl and wife Rita of Porum and Fred and wife Connie of Webbers Falls; 11 grandkids, 26 great-grandkids, 18 great-great-grandkids and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and son David, her parents, Jess and Pearl, 2 brothers, Sam and John and 1 sister Stella Burr.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Pollard, Brian Shamblin, James Swimmer, Johnny Cottner, Jamie Shamblin and Robert Pollard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jessie Wright, Charlie Shamblin, Ray Shamblin, Wayne Shamblin, Ronald Stevens and Lindsey Black.
Funeral services for Earlene "Benton" Shamblin, 88, will be 10:00 am September 16, 2025 at the First Assembly of God Church in Webbers Falls with Pastor David Bray officiating. Burial will follow at Fields Cemetery in Porum, under the care and direction of Lescher Millsap Funeral Home.
