Clista Lee Anderson, 91, passed away on June 22, 2025, in Muskogee, OK. She was born on December 13, 1933, in Porum, OK, to Thomas J. and Ida Mae Nicholson. Clista was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She married Richard Anderson on October 4, 1952, in Van Buren, AR. Together, they had two children, Rick and Watheneah. Clista retired from Kerr-McGee, and she and Richard later moved to Warner, OK.
Clista loved photography, genealogy, and birdwatching. She was very proud of her family's Cherokee heritage. She and Richard enjoyed bowling and traveling together. Clista was also an avid sports fan-especially of the OKC Thunder and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. True to her passionate Thunder fandom, Clista held on long enough to witness the OKC Thunder win their first NBA Championship-something she had looked forward to for years.
She is survived by her grandson, TJ, and his wife, Jennifer, of Edmond, OK; her great-granddaughters Tina, Stacey, and Sadie Taylor; and her step-great-grandsons Tyler and Logan McKinsey. She also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends. Clista never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ida; her husband, Richard; her son, Rick; her daughter, Watheneah; her son-in-law, Tommy Taylor; and her grandson, Richard Lloyd.
Clista will be dearly missed.
Services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Warner First Baptist Church, 810 2nd Ave., Warner, OK 74469. Interment will follow at Warner Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home, 2801 Chandler Rd., Muskogee, OK 74403.
