Earnest Harold Meadows Sr. 82, of Tabor City, NC entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 16, 2023 at his home following a long illness.
Born March 13, 1941 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Earnest Lee and Glenna Lenora Buckland Meadows. A veteran of the United States Army he worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for the Virginia Dept. of Highways. He enjoyed sitting on his porch, fishing, camping, going to the beach and spending time with his family and friends. Earnest was an avid virtual game player on his computer, and he loved his dogs.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Lee Meadows and Werner Ray “Buddy” Meadows and one sister, Jane Carol Meadows.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Wilma Ward Meadows; five children, Ernest Harold Meadows Jr., Pamela Kay Meadows, Rebecca Lynne Meadows, Sandra Dee Tyler and Donald Wayne Meadows and wife Pamela; eleven grandchildren, Alan, Casey, Derek, Belinda, Melissa, Amanda, Nolan, Timmy, Eli, Avah and Kolby; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Edith Fowler; special friend and caregiver, Margie Tyler and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, July 21, 2023 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from noon until time of services on Friday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
