Eddie Lee Mack, Jr., "June," a veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of Oates, South Carolina, passed away on
February 24, 2025. "Uncle June" or "June," as he was known to many, was born on February 10, 1942, to Eddie Lee Mack, Sr., and Mary Magdalene (Mag) DuBose. At the age of 13, June moved to California, graduating from Berkeley High School in 1960, where he loved and played high school football before enlisting in the U.S. Army. The U. S. Army recognized Eddie for his honorable service with a Purple Heart, along with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Eddie worked at Sherman Williams until retirement and created a tight bond with his co-workers, calling themselves the "Camper Guys," John, Jerry, Ben, William, and Dennis. They loved camping, backpacking, hunting, the shooting range, fishing, and of course, football! Eddie was a 49er, all the way! He was an energetic, robust person who would cause you to think and rethink your position on many topics. The end result was a great deal of bantering back and forth and loads of laughter. He was happiest with his friends and family. He loved us, and we loved him.
June was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him for the way his life was lived and for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Eddie Lee Mack is survived by his two sisters, Eva Hutchins and Gloria (Joe) Lewis; sister-in-law, Deborah (late husband Thomas) Mack; cousin, Eva Scipio-Givens; along with nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
June was preceded in death by his father, Eddie; mother, Mary; and brother, Thomas. Although Eddie's physical presence may
no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth
his legacy of love, family, and compassion in all that we do.
