Eddie “Eddie Cool” Smith, Jr., age 83, departed this life at his residence on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. He was a native of Donaldsonville, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA for 65 years. Eddie attended Magnolia High School in Donaldsonville and was a retired pipefitter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing baseball. Eddie played and traveled with the Brown Travelers Baseball Team to many places and won several trophies. He also loved cooking for his family and friends. Eddie left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.Beloved husband of the late Janie Mae Gaines Smith. Devoted father of Evie Walker, Aaron Smith, Clayton Smith, and Lowanda Smith. Son of the late Eddie and Emerle Smith. Loving brother of Stella Scioneaux, Myrtle Madison, Omanda (Marvin) Robinson, Roger, Gerald, and Lawrence (Margaret) Smith, and the late Lily Mae Smith Whittington, Warren, Herman, and Leroy Smith. Son-in-law of the late Frank and Pearl Gaines. Brother-in-law of Herbert Gaines, Edith (Byron) Jupiter, Willamena Gaither, Elizabeth Wingo, Victoria Scott, Evella Roberson, and the late Melvin Roberson Wilbert Gaines, Solon Scott II, James Wingo, Marius Whittington, Patricia Gaines, Florence, Gloria, Mildred, and Tracy Smith. Also cherishing his memories are 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 godchildren, a few extended children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marreo, LA on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
