Paul G. "Reds" Smith, Jr., age 92, of Hanover, passed away at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover on August 11, 2025.

Reds was born in Hanover, PA on May 4, 1933 and was the son of the late Paul G. Smith, Sr. and Marie (Becker) Smith. He graduated from Delone Catholic High School Class of 1952 and proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea. Reds worked for Bethlem Mines in New Oxford, now Vulcan Materials Company, for many years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and was an active parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover where he served as basketball coach and usher for many years.

Reds is survived by his brother Thomas G. Smith and wife Joyce of Hanover; his nephews Thomas G. Smith, Jr. and Joel B. Smith and wife Angela; his niece-in-law Joan Smith; his grandniece Ali Vizzard; and his grandnephew Derek Smith. He was preceded in death by his nephew Andrew G. Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Reds' Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 11:00AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, PA 17331 with Rev. Michael P. Reid, II as celebrant. He will be laid to rest following the Mass at St. Vincent's Cemetery in Hanover with military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00AM – 11:00AM prior to the Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Reds' memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, PA 17331.
