It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edgar Leroy Christie, of Avon, who left this world on November 7, 2025, at the age of 96. Edgar was born on November 12, 1928, in Bainbridge, to his parents Ewell Richard and Elva Cleo (Proctor) Christie. He married the late Mary Edith (Mitchell) Christie on August 27th, 1955. He and spent his formative years in the area, graduating from Ben Davis High School in 1947.
Following his education, Edgar proudly served his country in the United States Army, enlisting on December 1, 1950, and achieving the rank of Private First Class before his honorable discharge on November 30, 1952.
Edgar dedicated his professional life to I.B.M., where he worked as an assembly line worker in Greencastle, retiring in 1987 after many years of devoted service. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence in all that he undertook.
In his leisure time, Edgar found joy in the sport of golf, a passion that brought him great satisfaction and camaraderie with friends and fellow enthusiasts.
Edgar is survived by his brother, Jerry Christie; sister-in-law, Debra Christie; and several nieces and nephews, who will cherish his memory and legacy.
Edgar is preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Mary Christie; two brothers: Richard Christie and Paul Christie; and one sister, Gaidene Morgan.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville.
