Edgar George Maxwell, Sr., 82 of Indiantown, FL passed away at Cleveland Hospital-North in Stuart, FL on May 5, 2023.
Edgar George Maxwell, Sr., was born June 7, 1940, on the tranquil island of Jamaica, in German Town, St. James, to Siba Dobson and Stanford Maxwell. One of Nineteen Siblings, from an early age, Edgar stood out as a ambitious, committed, and charismatic personality.
In January of 1979, Edgar journeyed to the United States of America, in pursuit of reinforcing his family and building his legacy. He worked diligently, for decades, as a Machine Operator for Louis Dryfus Citus Inc, in Indiantown, Florida. With an unwavering love for God, and His Church, Edgar, served faithfully, for nearly 40 years, as Senior Deacon of Faith Temple Church of God Inc, under the leadership of the late Bishop Daniel T. Weaver, Sr. In 1985, he met the love his life, Marnell Johnson, and for 38 Years they shared in a beautiful marriage.
After several years of declining health, Edgar, took flight from this life, into eternal rest, in the early hours of Friday, May 5, 2023. Hours prior to his departure, he was able to pray with his family, as they surrounded his bedside.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his parental in-laws, Willie and Glover Johnson. Left to cherish him in loving memory and honor his legacy is a devoted wife, Marnell Maxwell; his children, Joan M. Maxwell, Neville G. Maxwell (Erica), Alric F. Maxwell, Edgar G. Maxwell Jr, and Joel Maxwell; his grandchildren, Kemmoy K. Boothe, Jody-Ann D. Weaver (Garrett, Sr.), Colville A Williams, Jerome N. Maxwell (Anna Kay), Tishauny L. Maxwell, Niquella S. Maxwell, Jody-Ann Robertson, Jada N. Maxwell and Nastassia Maxwell; 9 great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Evergreen Baptist Church in Indiantown, FL on Friday, May 19, 2023 at11am. Visitation will be held the same day from 10am-11am.
Burial will follow at Port Mayaca Cemetery in Canal Point, FL.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary.
