Charlton: Edith (Cote) Bordeleau, 98, of City Depot Rd., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21st, in her home after a long illness.
Her husband, Leo D. Bordeleau, passed away in 1961. She was predeceased by her son George Bordeleau in 1970, her daughter, Diane Rooks in 2008 and her son Paul Bordeleau on Oct. 6, 2024. She leaves her two daughters, Dorothy Ferguson of Charlton and Leona Daniels and her husband Jack of Lake Worth Corridor, FL; her brother, Richard Cote of Londonderry, NH; her four sisters, Veronique Drouin of Alberta, Canada, Brigitte St. Laurent of Holland, Madeleine Farland of Southbridge and Elaine Carlson of Worcester; her five grandchildren, Wayne Ferguson, Shawn Ferguson, Jennifer Dobson, David Rooks and Eric Cote; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her three brothers, Vincent Cote, Raymond Cote and Leopold Cote and four sisters, Louise Grandin, Genevieve Nadeau, Jeanine Royer and Angela Spear. She was born in St. Joseph de Lauzon, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Louis E. and Marie Reine (Fortin) Cote.
Edith worked in the cafeteria at the Heald Machine Co. for 11years before retiring in 1991. She previously worked in the cafeteria of the Charlton Elementary School for many years. After retiring she worked parttime cleaning for the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home in Southbridge. Edith was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Church in Charlton and a longtime volunteer with the church. She was also a volunteer with the Chip In Pantry in Charlton. Edith also greatly enjoyed finding bargains.
A funeral Mass for Edith will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27th, at 11:00am in St. Joseph's Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Genevieve Cemetery, Shoreham, VT. A calling hour for Edith will be held in St. Joseph's Church, on Wednesday, Nov. 27th, from 10:00 to 11:00am, prior to the Mass.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph's Parish, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton, MA 01507.
The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
