Edith Georgette (nee, Happel) Firestone, 79, of Coulterville, IL; born on December 11, 1944 in New London, CT, the daughter of George and Lucy (nee, DiPasquale) Happel; passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL surrounded by her loving family.
Edith was a homemaker who enjoyed hosting large, loud family gatherings. She was an avid antique collector; anyone out there that has a phone number for American Pickers, give us a call! She loved yard sales, shopping, gambling, and (in her own words) spending her children's inheritance.
Edith is survived by her companion – Walter Gerlach of Coulterville, IL; son – Leslie (Carisa) Firestone of Barnhart, MO; daughters – Terrie (Jim) Jordan of Centerville, MO, Christine (Teddy) Murphy of Evansville, IL, and "mom's favorite child" (insert eye roll) Jeana (Kerry DeSpain) Louis of Pinckneyville, IL; "udder daughter" – Nancy (Bob) Allard of Dupo, IL; eleven grandchildren – Jennifer (Brian) Jacquin, Aaron (Becca) Wittenborn, Matthew (Danielle Hanson) Wittenborn, Mindy Firestone, Richard (Leigh-Ann) Firestone Jr., Ashley Handsbury, DJ (Ashley) Handsbury, Hannah (Justin) Stafford, Jacqueline (Jeremy) Lampros, Jacob Louis, and Jayla Louis; twenty great grandchildren; twin great-great grandbabies on the way that are due in January of 2025; two sisters -Linda (Michael) Zollner of Sparta, IL and Ysabel DiPasquale of New York; many nieces, nephews, and other children who benefited from her love over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband – Jimmie D. Firestone, Sr.; two children – Jimmie D. Firestone, Jr. and Richard V. Firestone, Sr.; brother – Joseph DiPasquale.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Tilden United Methodist Church or Tilden Food Pantry.
The Visitation will be held at Tilden United Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Christine Lippert officiating. Committal Services will be held at Tilden Cemetery in Tilden, IL.
