Edith Freemon

Edith Lyle Freemon, age 93 of Murfreesboro, passed away on December 28th, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Freemon Jr.; parents, William and Lillian Hollis and siblings, Kit, Irene, Christine, Leland, Doug and Phyllis Carol. She is survived by her children, Robert H. Freemon III (Laura), Jeffrey L. Freemon (Samantha), Linda F. Tucker (Robbie), Sharon F. Everett (Walter); siblings, Georgia Franklin, Bernice Gannon, Mack Hollis (Jane), Eleanor Janes, Virginia Edwards, Bruce Hollis, Bobby Shirley Hollis as well as 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many other loving family members.

Edith met the love of her life, Robert, on the Fourth of July, and just six months later they were married. From the moment he saw her, Robert knew she was the one. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and devotion. They raised their children in Nashville while traveling throughout the United States during Robert's military service and in later years made trips to England, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii.

A devoted homemaker, Edith taught herself to sew and lovingly made clothing for her children and grandchildren, including doll clothes for her daughters. She proudly passed those sewing skills down to her daughters who continue to make clothing for their families today. Edith also loved gardening, canning vegetables, and caring for her home. She and Robert later retired to their farm in Norene, where they enjoyed horseback riding and the simple beauty of country life, and where Edith continued working daily on the farm until recent years. In later years, she enjoyed traveling to Florida with her sisters and spent time working on a dude ranch in Montana alongside her sister Eleanor, a reflection of her enduring love of horses and family. Above all, Edith cherished her home and her family.

Visitation for Ms. Freemon will take place Saturday, January 3rd, 2026 from 11 AM until the funeral service at 1 PM at Partlow Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Norene. Family will serve as pallbearers. Bro. Nathan Haynes will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Edith's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The American Heart Association.
