Edith Ann Hajek

Edith Sheets Hajek, age 81, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and a lifetime of cherished memories.

Edith graduated from Penn Hills High School near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1962, and then Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, in 1966, where she met her husband to be Brian Hajek. Married on August 20, 1966, they enjoyed life together for 59 and a half years.

She taught disadvantaged students in Grove City, Ohio, for seven years before starting their family with the adoption of David in 1973 and Rachel (Lisa) in 1976. She lived in Columbus, Ohio, until 2021 when they permanently relocated to Naples.

Edith was a devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren, Logan, Cameron, and Reid Hall helping with nap rides, attending sports activities, school pickups, and helping them become wonderful young adults. Edith embraced life with joy and enthusiasm, lived her life to the fullest, and imparted those traits onto all those in her life.

Her favorite hobbies were her many flower gardens and singing in her church choir. She also enjoyed raising and showing Shih Tzu puppies, and camping trips including a 10,000 mile six-week trip around the US and Canada in their 1967 MGB in 1969. She enjoyed traveling and lived part time between Keystone, Colorado, Columbus, Ohio, and Naples, Florida.

Spending many birthday weeks in Walt Disney World and cruising the seas were special passions of hers. She and her husband enjoyed their MGB during their entire marriage and many activities with the Central Ohio MG Owners (COMGO) club, going to many National and Regional MG meetings, special trips, and cruises with the club.

She is preceded in death by her son David in 1996. She is survived by her husband Brian and daughter Lisa Hall (Matthew), and her three grandchildren. Edith will be remembered for her generous spirit, strong faith in church and family, and the countless lives she touched through love, leadership, and service. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, and the many hearts forever changed by knowing her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday March 9, 2026, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Wonder Gardens, 27180 Old 41 Road, in Bonita Springs, Florida. Guests will be welcome to enjoy the gardens before or during the Celebration of Life event that day. Attire is relaxed business casual with appropriate shoes for walking about a garden environment.
