Edith Ann Moretto (formerly Edith Shewell, Edith Lamphear) age 63, born on July 14, 1961, passed away on April 25, 2025, after a long battle with lung disease and other afflictions. Edie found peace and comfort on a Friday afternoon surrounded by loved ones.
Those who knew her know she was a strong, resilient, independent, selfless woman. Edie was a resident of Burbank, Ohio but was born and most of her life in Medina, Ohio. She was born again as a member of Grace Baptist Church in Brunswick, Ohio, where she touched the lives and nurtured the souls of many children as a member of the youth program. She continued this service for several years as an organizer of Vacation Bible Schools across Medina.
Her greatest joy was in her devotion to her beloved family, especially her sons and grandsons.
Edie is survived by her sister, Bettie (Jim) DiPietro (nee Moretto); brother, Joe Moretto, Jr.; sons, William Shewell, James Shewell, and Matthew Moretto; along with her 8 beloved grandsons, and dear friends.
She joins her father, Amato 'Joe' Moretto, Sr; mother, Billie Jean (nee Pendleton) Moretto; and brother, Larry Moretto, Sr. among others.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 6 to 8p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N Court Street, Medina, OH 44256. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 W. Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44333.
Online condolences may be left for the family at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
