Edith (Edie) Lillian (Weaver) Scott
February 13, 1928-February 20, 2023
Edie Lillian Scott age 95 of Toledo, Ohio passed away February 20, 2023, in the University of Toledo Medical Center. Edie grew up in a loving home with her sisters Avis and Janis, where they grew garden vegetables and flowers, raised chickens and always had a dog around. She was a Girl Scout from the 4th grade through high school where she then joined the Mariners branch of the Girl Scouts.
Edie attended Libbey High School and college at the University of Toledo, earning a degree in Education. While at the University of Toledo, Edie was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She began teaching in Pemberville, Ohio but spent most of her teaching career at Woodward High School in Toledo. She taught in the public school system for over 30 years.
She loved outdoor activities sailing, skiing, hiking, golfing along with walks in the park, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed Modern Western Square Dancing and belonged to the Delta Ohio square dance club. She was also an avid bowler and seamstress.
Edie always had a great sense of humor, a positive outlook, smiled easily, and was always up for an adventure. Even as she was losing her vision and her hearing, she was able to laugh things off and despite her limitations, stayed active as long as she could.
She loved nautical décor and anything with sailboats. There wasn't a spot in her home where you couldn't see a Sailboat or a lighthouse! . Edie was an avid Ohio State fan. GO BUCKS! Edie also enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital and Ohio Living Swan Creek and was a very active member of Glendale Presbyterian Church. She was an elder and taught Sunday School for many years.
Edie loved her family dearly. She had a daughter, a son, and two grandsons, whom she adored. Edie was preceded in death by her mother and father (Alice and Earl Weaver), and sister Avis Bartley. Edie is survived by her daughter Jan (Jimmy)Robison, son Bob(Lisa)Scott, and two grandsons, Brandon (Nicole) Scott and Lucas (Nikkole) Scott, two great-grandchildren Isabella and Chase. She also is survived by her sister Janis Hutchinson and cherished nieces and nephews: Andrea, Craig, Mark, Teresa, Linda, Wendy, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Ohio Living Swan Creek where she received exceptional care. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at UTMC for her care there.
