Edith Falconer Skinner, 76, passed away peacefully April 22, 2023 with family by her side. She was born in Birmingham, AL July 20th, 1946 to John Stuart Falconer and Isabel (Raub) Falconer. She grew up in Atlanta, GA and Kenilworth, IL where she graduated from New Trier High School in 1964. She attended Briarcliff College in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Edith married Frederic Parkhurst Skinner, her husband of 56 years, December 10th, 1966 at Lee Chapel in Lexington, VA. Together, they created a life full of love, hard work, and family memories in Elmira, NY where they lived for 34 years before retiring to Fleming Island, FL. She dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. Her family and friends remember her as selfless, kind, caring, generous, and the epitome of grace. Edith led a life committed to putting others first. She was devoted to her community and committed to volunteerism and service. She was a member of the Elmira Junior League and Elmira School Board. She proudly served Woodbrook Assisted Living Home for many years and enjoyed her work with Foster House Medical Practice and Twin Tier Physician Management. She adored her time spent on Green Lake, Maine especially while surrounded by her grandchildren. She also cherished her regular bridge games, book club, traveling with Fred, daily walks, and keeping a beautiful and welcoming home. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Cary Falconer Driver, and her brother, David Falconer. Surviving in addition to her husband are two children: Frederic Parkhurst Skinner, Jr. (Soheila Zekri) of Tampa, FL and Cary Falconer Skinner (Gerald Conrad) of Amesbury, MA and four grandchildren: Frederic Parkhurst Skinner III, Alia Olson Skinner, John Wilkinson Conrad, and Elizabeth Cary Conrad. She is also survived by two siblings: John Falconer II (Carol) of Carrollton, TX and Isabel Buzby (Thomas) of Lebanon, PA; and beloved nieces and nephews and their children: John Falconer III (Laura Lee Clark) with one child, Ana; Edith Wachtel (Mark) with two children, Fletcher and Finley; and Cary Marcantonio (Canio) with two children, Elizabeth and William. A private Celebration of Edith will be held in Fleming Island, FL and Ellsworth, ME.
