Edith Stover, 98, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Caraton Commons in Ledgeview.

Edith was born on February 27, 1927 to Green and Mary (Browning) Carter in Kentucky where she began her career in hospitality as a waitress. She later married Nelson C. Stover on May 22, 1955. They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they raised two children. Edith was a hostess in various Las Vegas restaurants until her early 70's when the arrival of grandchildren convinced her to retire and move to Green Bay in 2002.

Edith was a very independent and resilient woman. She enjoyed entertaining, showing family and friends around Las Vegas and surrounding areas, spending time with her grandchildren, reading mystery novels, and becoming a Packer fan.

She is survived by her children Russell (Amy) Stover and Debra Stover (Florida); three grandchildren Kenai (Oregon), Rachel, and Alexandra; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson; her parents Green and Mary Browning; Nelson's parents Russell and Maude (Schumaker) Stover; her siblings and their spouses Elsie (Charlie) Day, Denver (Barbara) Carter, Charles (Joyce) Carter; Nelson's siblings and spouses Evelyn (Wayne) Page, LaFerne (English) Gaddis, and Francis Lundry.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 4:00-5:30 pm at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home at 1145 Cardinal Lane, Green Bay, WI 54313 (Howard). A short prayer service will follow. Burial will be at St. Claire's Cemetery at the St. Mary's site in Greenleaf on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 10:00am.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Stephanie and Katelyn from Moments Hospice who were very compassionate and patient in caring for Edith since January 2024. We would also like to thank Maddie, Alisha, Eugenia, Lela, and Steph at Caraton Commons for their care of Edith over the past two years.
