Edmund Joseph Maillet

Edmund J. Maillet, 93, of South Windsor, CT, formerly of Manchester, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Gardner, Massachusetts on May 30, 1930, he was the son of the late Amedie Maillet and Delia A. (Caissie) Maillet of Canada. He was the beloved husband for 54 years of the late Pauline (Masse) Maillet.
Edmund grew up in Ste-Anne-de-Kent, New Brunswick, Canada. He was the oldest of 11 children. In 1951 at the age of 21, he joined the United States Navy and served honorably for four years. After the Navy, he was employed as an electrician at The Hartford Courant for 38 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Manchester Army Navy Club and the Manchester Senior Center where he has many trophies to show for his skill at playing pool. Ed also enjoyed fishing, golf, and playing his guitar.
Ed is survived by his children, Nancy M. Volkert and her husband Dennis of Manchester, CT; Ronald J. Maillet and his wife Lynne of Coventry, CT; Doreen M. Bryant and her husband Oscar of Corolla, NC; and Larry G. Maillet and his wife Joy of Eustis, FL. In addition, he leaves his beloved seven grandchildren: Keith Volkert, Matthew Volkert; Ashley Maillet; Erica Maillet; Ellie Maillet; Morgan Clinton; and Austin Bryant. He also leaves 4 great grandchildren: Emma Volkert, Max Volkert; Hazel Clinton and Jax Clinton. He is also survived by three brothers and four sisters, all in Canada. Ed was predeceased by his wife Pauline, his son, Norman M. Maillet, as well as 2 brothers and 1 sister.
The family would like to thank the staff, at Brookdale Senior Living, 1715 Ellington Rd., South Windsor, CT for their care while he was a resident.
Funeral will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home at 400 Main St, Manchester, CT. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 followed by a burial with military honors at St. James Cemetery, 368 Broad St. Manchester, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Covent House or St. Jude
