Edmund Joseph McCarthy, 95, born in South Norwalk, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024, in his home in Fort Pierce, Florida with his family by his side.
He leaves his wife of 70 years, Helen (Clarke) McCarthy, his son Brien and wife Cristina, adoring grandchildren Brien Jr., Elena and Andrew McCarthy of Connecticut, and Jenica Bozzo, of California, as well as great grandchildren Jason, Jordan, Payton and Grayson, and many nieces and nephews. Edmund was predeceased by his daughter Ann Marie McCarthy and sisters Dorothy Wilson, Arline Ramanauskas and Bernadette Arena.
Edmund was born on July 23,1929, to Edmund Joseph and Margaret Dorothy (Sarosi) McCarthy. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1947 and served in the Marine Corps until 1950 as a Corporal on the USS Fargo. Edmund started his career with the UA Plumbers and Pipe fitters Local 777. He moved his family to Weston, CT in 1967 and opened his own Plumbing & Heating business where he worked with his son by his side and granddaughter riding in his truck. Edmund was a light in this world, who loved taking walks with his dog Louie, chopping wood to make the best fires, playing cards, originally wanting to be a history teacher he had a fond love of history and being surrounded by his close family and friends. He loved going with his family to the Hungarian festival and getting his favorite food and pastries. His greatest pastime was spending time with his grand and great grandchildren and being their "Pop".
Edmund will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
A graveside service will be held in Connecticut at a later date (details TBD).
Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
