Edna Elizabeth King Cisson, widow of Oliver Cisson, born November 21, 1922, in the Woodside Mill Village, died on March 16, 2025.
She is survived by three children, Joyce Scott (Butch), Dell Cisson (Shanna), and Dinah Cisson (Buddy Price); two grandchildren, Tripp Scott and Amy Jordan; and a brother, Jerry King (Barbara). She was blessed with 10 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three grandchildren, Eric Cisson and two infant grandchildren, Kelli Scott and Tracy Scott; four sisters, Hattie King, Jeanette Peterson, Nell Manley and Velma Monteith; and two brothers, Robert King and Everett King. Edna was a faithful member of the Woodside Baptist Church where she was baptized at age 13. She served in the church in many ways, including Sunday school teacher, WMU and choir member along with participating in many other activities. Her Christian faith was always exemplified in her daily life.
Edna was a lifelong sewer and made countless turbans and pillow for cancer patients, as well as dresses and shorts for missionaries to distribute both here and in Africa. She volunteered for 30 plus years at Bon Secours Hospital where she received Volunteer of the Year. She was active in the school her children attended and served as President of the PTA at Parker High School.
If you were one of the lucky ones, then you had the pleasure of eating at her dining room table where she served her famous fried chicken, homemade biscuits, and gravy. No one ever left her table hungry.
Edna loved to travel and visited almost every state in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii. She also visited Europe and Northern Africa. However, her favorite trip was to the Holy Lands.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Her family wants to thank the staff at Shepherd's Care Center and Pruitt Hospice for their loving care.
