Edna J. McDougall, 104, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen, MN.
Edna J. Erickson was born in Twin Valley, MN on October 14, 1919 to Clarence M. and Alma (Hanson) Erickson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. Edna lived in Twin Valley where she graduated from high school in 1937. Following graduation, she worked in the Peterson Brothers grocery and dry goods store in Twin Valley and continued working there until 1945. Edna married R. Earl McDougall on July 20, 1941 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley and continued to live there as long as Earl was serving in the U.S. Navy. In 1947 she and Earl, along with their son Thomas moved to Hawley, MN. She worked for the Wahl Drug store in Hawley for several years and later worked for the Vigen-Johnson Furniture store. She retired in 1982 and they continued to live in Hawley. Earl passed away on October 1, 2008. In 2001, Edna entered Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen, MN.
Edna had been a member of Hawley Lutheran Church since 1947 and was active in the Ladies Aid and various other church activities.
Edna is survived by one son, Thomas (Connie) McDougall of Hawley and one daughter, Nancy McDougall of La Crosse, Wi; six grandchildren & fifteen great grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband Earl, sisters Lottie (Irving) Jahr, Alice (Olaf) Johnson & Jane (Richard) Coleman and one brother Lyle M. (Phyllis) Erickson.
A special thank you to the staff at the Viking Manor Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided Edna.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 31, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery.
