Eduardo Gutierrez, 35, of West Chicago, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Eddie was born on January 11, 1989 in
Chicago, Illinois to Baltazar Gutierrez and Laura Gutierrez-Munoz. Eddie is also survived by his wife Alison and his older siblings Lizbeth (Michael) Gutierrez and Baltazar (Mariana) Gutierrez, Jr.
Eddie was proud to impart his strong-will, kindness, and stubbornness onto his nephews Baltazar III, Daniel Adan, and Alessandro Jesus and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his niece Neriah Isabel.
He is also survived by his cherished in-laws Miguel and Elvira and brother in-law Jonathan (Carlee), who all loved Eddie beyond measure.
Eddie loved to be with his family, ride motorcycles, and was an avid cyclist, an activity he loved to do with his father. Of course, he hated taking out the trash for his Mom and resisted cutting the lawn for his Dad. When he wasn't out riding or helping out at home, Eddie loved to sit and savor a good tequila with his friends.
On October 7, 2020, Eddie met Alison Aguilar when Alison (or Eddie, depending on who you ask) "swiped right" and an instant connection was made. After a month of exchanging messages and lots of prodding by his sister Liz, Eddie and Alison finally talked on the phone and met soon after, and the rest is history.
Eddie said the most important day of his life was July 16, 2022 when he and Alison were married in Cancun. They quickly welcomed two fur babies, Rambo and Grogu, who Eddie wasn't sure if he loved or hated. Always looking for the next adventure, Eddie and Alison traveled at every opportunity and he was especially happy that he got Alison to skydive with him. That August, Eddie was diagnosed with Stage Four Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma. In an incredible display of courage and strength, Eddie faced his head-on and met each twist in the road with the same tenacity, courage, and warrior spirit that he led his life with.
Alison and the family would like to express special thanks for the compassionate and innovative care that Eddie received at Northwestern Memorial from Dr. Niraj Shenoy and his team.
