The Obituary
Edward Lewis Adams, affectionately known as "Moon," "Eddie," and "Chicken Biscuit," was born on February 2, 1968, in Lee County, North Carolina, to Alberta Woods and Edward Davis. Eddie transitioned from Earth to Glory, peacefully answering the call of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at UNC Hospital in
Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Raised in
Sanford, North Carolina, Eddie attended Lee County Public Schools, graduating from Lee County High School, Class of 1986. Known for his warmth and sense of humor, Eddie could find common ground with anyone he met. His kindness and laughter touched many lives during his school years and beyond.
Eddie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized, with his spiritual foundation rooted in the Mount Olive United Church of God and later Emmanuel United Church of God under the leadership of the late Bishop Vernard A. Miller. A devoted Sunday school member, Eddie learned faith and compassion from his grandmother, the late Minister Daisy Adams, who was also his Sunday school teacher. Eddie shared his musical talents as a drummer and choir member and brought joy and laughter to church bus rides to Raleigh, NC. More recently, Eddie supported and assisted True Gospel United Church of God under the guidance of Bishop Samuel Wright.
In 1992 and 1998, Eddie experienced the greatest joys of his life: the births of his beloved children, Crishawn and Shaniqule, who brought him immense pride. He cherished his role as their father and, in later years, delighted in being "Papa Eddie" to his grandchildren, Tristan and Aaliyah.
A hardworking man, Eddie held various jobs throughout his life to support his family, including positions as a carpenter for Redman Mobile Homes and as a master electrician with companies such as Hooker Electrics, JM Poe Electric, PR Faulk, and Fort Liberty Airforce Base.
Beyond his work, Eddie was a gifted musician and entertainer, performing as "DJ Eddie Moon." With his smooth style, he was the life of the party, lighting up rooms with his energy and knowledge of the latest songs and dance moves. He loved fishing, grilling, and bringing laughter and joy to his family and friends. Eddie's ability to connect with others, offer encouragement, and make everyone feel special will be remembered by all who knew him. Known for hosting family gatherings, Eddie was especially famous for his annual Fourth of July cookouts and water gun fights, bringing loved ones together in joy and celebration.
Eddie was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Minister Daisy Adams, and Mary Anne Davis; grandfathers, Edward Adams and Vance Partridge; stepfather, Harry Woods, Sr.; and brother, Vance Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Alberta Woods and Edward Davis; his children, Chrishawn Alston and Shaniqule Adams; grandchildren, Tristan Wiley and Aaliyah Allen; his special friend, Margaret Dunbar; and siblings, Vernon (Pandora) Johnson, Doyle Johnson, Harry Woods, Jr., Nicole (Carlton) Cantrell, Allison Davis, Linda Kay Davis, Priscilla (Larry) Faison, Betty Armwood, Barbara Heck, Judy (William) Allen, Onelia (Paul) McNeil, Elaine Adams, Theresa Adams Mangum, David Adams, Jr., and Faye Adams. Eddie is also remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.
Eddie will be deeply missed and forever loved by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends will continue to live on in the hearts of all he touched.
