Obituary

Marion Julius Weaver, Jr., Esquire, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife and three children. He was 77 years old.

Born on December 6, 1947, in Anderson, South Carolina, Marion was the son of late Marion Julius Weaver, Sr. and Zomenina Jackson Weaver. As a child, Marion was known for his sharp intellect and a deep love of music-a passion that would remain with him throughout his life. He was affectionately called "Brother" by those closest to him, a testament to the love and warmth he shared with his family and community.

Marion pursued higher education at North Carolina Central University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 1970. He went on to further his education by completing his legal studies at North Carolina Central University, earning a Juris Doctor degree. A man of unwavering commitment and strong work ethic, Marion dedicated 31 years of professional service to Roadway Express, working as a dock supervisor and city dispatcher until his well-earned retirement in 2008.

Marion was a man of principle, humor, and quiet strength. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his brother, William Weaver; his sister, Minnie Denise Weaver; and his cherished aunt, Annette Jenkins.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, carried on by his beloved wife of 47 years, Barbara Belton Weaver; his three children: Tamara Denise Weaver of Tallahassee, Florida; Marion "Julius" Belton Weaver III (Ryan Sager) of Tampa, Florida; and Cindy Sedell Weaver of Ankara, Türkiye. His joy and pride, grandson Langston Marion Weaver Harris, brought light to his later years.

He is also survived by two sisters, Dr. Robena Egemonye (nee Weaver) and Harriet Ann Weaver, both of Anderson, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Jennifer Anita Weaver of Anderson, South Carolina, Joyce Belton of Durham, NC, Ellen Cameron of Charlotte, NC, and Dr. Omelia Barnum of Lakeland, FL; brothers-in-law, Valentino Belton (Peggy) of Durham, NC and Rev. Ridie Headen (the late Rev. Laura Headen) of Sanford, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and treasured friends who will miss him dearly.

Marion's life was marked by love, integrity, and service. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his steadfast presence, and the unwavering devotion he showed to his family. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing and loving him.
