Edward F. Angster, 89, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend, and companion passed away in his home on December 15, 2022.
Ed was born and raised in Newark, NJ, and his family eventually moved to Seaside Park, NJ. He graduated from Toms River High School in 1951 and obtained a B.A. from Thomas A. Edison State College. Ed was a Licensed Architect, Engineer, Planner and Surveyor in the state of New Jersey. He loved his profession, and he continued to work until his final day.
Ed served for decades on the Salvation Army Advisory Board. He was the only non-Salvation Army member to receive the William Booth Award, one of the highest awards that may be conferred upon an individual by The Salvation Army. Ed was an active volunteer at the Salvation Army Ocean County Citadel. He assisted weekly with the Hearty Helping program, and he served meals to first responders following natural disasters. Ed also was a greeter every Sunday at the Salvation Army Church.
Ed was proud of being the youngest scout at the time to become an Eagle Scout earning this honor by signage and grooming of the Appalachian Trail in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. At 89, he was full of life, and there was no task that he would not take on. He still enjoyed traveling and experiencing new adventures. Ed loved his family, and he found much joy taking care of his home. Ed will always be remembered by his family and friends for his dry sense of humor and his boundless energy. To know Ed was to love him.
Ed's first wife of 52 years and mother of his 10 children, Monica Marie, died in 2007. Ed's second wife of 9 years, Janice MacLean, passed away in 2019. Ed was predeceased by his sisters, Gwen and Patty, and his first granddaughter, Jessica Angster. He is also survived by his loving companion and friend, Barbara Ann Rose. Ed is survived by 10 children; Charity Kennedy and her husband, Bruce, Aprilette Rose, Mary Porrino and her husband, Butch, Beverlee Tegeder, Edward Angster and his wife, Sydney Yarnold, Faith Angster and her husband, Keith Dillard, Justina Angster, Walter Angster and his wife, Toni, Monica Angster, Lawrence Angster and his step-daughter; Debra Eckley and her husband, Shawn.
Ed is survived by 24 grandchildren: Krista Kennedy, Bethany Kennedy, Keegan Kennedy, Nicholas Kennedy, Grace-Anne Johnson, Charity Kennedy, Luke Eccles, Carissa Eccles, Patrick Eccles, Angelina Eccles, Jade Eccles, Kyle Eckert, Connor Tegeder, Justin Tegeder, Alexa Angster, Daniella McCrann, Nicole Smit, Christian Sontag, Bryant Sontag, Wesley Sontag, Jared Angster, Amanda Angster, Jennifer Bish, Mark Bish, and his two step-grandchildren; Matthew Eckley and Adam Eckley, Ed is survived by six great-grandchildren; Emerson, Weston, Mateo, Valentina, Genesis, and Avery.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, December 22th from 4 pm to 8 pm at Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St.,Toms River, 08753. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23rd at 10 am at the Salvation Army Church, 1738 Rt. 37, Toms River. Interment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park in Neptune. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Salvation Army Ocean County Citadel Children's Programs, 1738 Hwy. Rt. 37-E, Toms River, N.J. 08753.

He started me on a career path which ran my entire working life for which I will be forever grateful.
