Edward "Ed" Bogart Jr., age 81, of Syracuse, passed away on July 13, 2024 surrounded by his family at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne. He was born to Edward and Maxine (Hold) Bogart on August 27, 1942. A graduate of Riley High School in South Bend in 1961, Ed was a dedicated Army veteran who served his country with honor. Ed met the love of his life and married Cathy Grieves on January 21, 1967.
Ed & Cathy started their family in South Bend, IN. Ed was part owner for several years as a sign maker at Forest Signs. They later moved their family to Syracuse, IN for an opportunity, where they became the new owners of Fish & Fun Resort. Later on, he started C&E Concession & Mr. B’s Pizzeria. Ed always kept himself busy and eventually retired.
In his spare time Ed loved to fish, he was a member of the Steelheaders club and would fish on Lake Michigan. He loved Mopar muscle cars and spent several years restoring them. His love for German Shepherds, raising them and training them was something that gave him joy. His most recent German Shepherds were Max, Rory & Ava. He loved watching sports – particularly cheering for the Bears and Boston Celtics – showcased his diverse interests and hobbies.
Above all else, Edward considered his family to be his proudest accomplishment. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and leaves behind a treasure trove of memories for them to hold dear.
Ed is survived by his wife Cathy Bogart of Syracuse and children; Sheila (Andrew) Reed of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dennis Bogart of Syracuse and Jason (Amy) Bogart of North Webster. Along with grandchildren Sidney and Libby Reed, and Lauren Bogart. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Life Celebration visitation honoring Ed's life will be held on July 18th at Titus Funeral Home in Syracuse from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Friday a funeral mass will be held at St. Martin De Porres Church, 6941 E Waco Dr, Syracuse, IN starting at 11:00 AM with a gathering one hour prior. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at Syracuse Cemetery.
Donations may be made to St. Martin De Porres Church in honor of Ed by mail at 6941 E Waco Dr, Syracuse, IN 46567 or with envelopes available at the Life Celebration Service and the Mass.
