Edward "Ed" Charles Dalglish, age 90, of Harborcreek, PA, passed away on August 15, 2025. He was born in
Erie, PA, on March 27, 1935, son of the late John Dalglish, born in Scotland, and Ethel (Miller) Dalglish, both of Lawrence Park, PA.
Ed graduated from Lawrence Park High School in 1953, where he served as class vice president and was a member of the National Honor Society. A gifted athlete, he played football and basketball, earning first-team all-county honors for both and helping win the 1953 Erie County Basketball Championship. It was during this time that he met the love of his life and future wife, Sally Ann Soudan, to whom he was devoted for more than 66 years.
At Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, PA, Ed majored in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. He was the quarterback of the football team, a four-year letterman, and a distinguished ROTC military graduate. Following his commissioning, Ed proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Army, including time in the National Security Agency. He was a 3rd Degree Master Mason, a 32nd Degree Mason, and proud member of the Zem Zem
Shriners Hospital.
Ed's professional career was marked by leadership, strategic planning, and service. In 1960, he began his 30-year tenure at Lord Corporation as an Application Chemist, rising to General Manager and ultimately Vice President. He then joined Hamot Medical Center as Vice President until his retirement in 1995. Ed was deeply engaged in his community, serving as President of the Robert Burns Scottish Club, a member of Perry Keystone Lodge #392 F&AM, a longtime member of the Lawrence Park Golf Club, and as a board member of the Manufacturers Association of Erie, the Erie Children's Museum, the Second Harvest Food Bank, the Hamot Health Foundation, and the Harbor Creek School District. A devoted member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, he faithfully served as both elder and deacon.
Ed loved reading mysteries and biographies, golfing, traveling around the world, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Michigan Wolverines, and spending time with family on Lake Erie and Chautauqua Lake. His life is a testament to hard work, service, and devotion to the people and pursuits he loved most.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally; son, John Scott (survived by Carolyn); and brothers, John, Jack, and Sanford "Sandy" Dalglish. He is survived by three sons: Mark (Anna), Geoffrey (Leslie) and Gregory (Kim); sister, Nancy Lucore; brother, Robert Dunst; and ten grandchildren.
