Edward "Ed" Odell Doby, Jr., age 66, of Cameron, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 27, 2024.
He was born in Lee County, NC on January 18, 1958 to Edward Odell Doby and Janet O'Quinn Doby Childress. Ed's father preceded him in death. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-dad A.C. Childress and brothers-in-law John Ross and Billy Sloan.
Ed worked many years for Magnetti-Marelli and most recently for the City of Sanford Water Treatment Department. He attended Lemon Springs Baptist Church when his health allowed. Ed enjoyed NASCAR, golf, hunting and was a diehard UNC Tarheel fan.
In addition to his mother Janet O'Quinn Doby Childress, he is survived by sons Zachery Doby and Ethan Doby both of Charlotte; siblings Brenda Doby Ross of Cameron, Linda Doby Sloan of Sanford, Patricia Doby Douglas of Pittsboro; step-siblings Cindy Stott, Bonnie Blackmon, Mollie Gunter, Duane Childress and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank Jenn & Scott Johnson, Missy & Rodney Goldston, Little Scottie and Brandon for the love and care they gave Edward and continue to give their mother Janet.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 4, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Lemon Springs Baptist Church with funeral service following at 3:30 PM with Rev. Brian Caldwell and Rev. Wayne O'Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
