Edward J. "Eddie" Doyle passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, at the age of 57.
Born to the late Edward and Regina Doyle, Eddie grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. He is survived by his siblings: Stephen and his wife Mari with their children Alden and Fabrizio; Marie and her husband Anthony with their children Leo, Bethani, and Rebecca; Kathleen and her husband John with their children John, Timothy, David, Amber, and Christian; Regina and her husband Robert with their children Aaron, Ben, Esther, and Lydia; and Thomas with his children Scott, Thomas, and Griffin. He is also remembered with love by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
Eddie was lovable, mischievous, and endlessly joyful. He had a knack for stealing snacks-whether at the movies or at Chuck E. Cheese-and was known to gather piles of socks or blankets as if they were his treasure. He loved bouncing balls, playing catch, pouring water into glasses, and spinning in circles to his favorite music. Any upbeat tune would make him giggle and flap his hands with delight.
Food was one of Eddie's greatest joys-pizza, cheeseburgers, French fries, soft pretzels, and soda were always favorites-and he never missed a chance to enjoy them after a trip to the movies, especially animated films. He loved swimming in the ocean, fearless in the waves, and treasured summer vacations in Ventnor, New Jersey, at his grandparents' home.
Eddie's father affectionately called him "buddy," "sunshine," and "sunny boy," names that reflected his bright and playful spirit. Though he faced many challenges in life, Eddie's determination, humor, and capacity for joy inspired everyone who knew him.
At the age of 9, Eddie entered Woodhaven Center in Philadelphia, where he received loving care. He returned home on weekends and vacations, remaining closely tied to his family. In recent years, as Woodhaven transitioned its residents into group homes, Eddie lived in a home where his caregivers cherished him as family.
Eddie was joyful, funny, playful, and above all, deeply loved. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to Eddie's Life Celebration on Tuesday, October 7th from 6 – 8 PM and on Wednesday, October 8th from 9:30 – 11 AM at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Interment services will take place at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA.
