Edward Eitner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home - Fairlawn on Jan. 19, 2026.
Ed Eitner passed away unexpectedly January 15, 2026. We all lost a good, good man.

Marilyn, his wife of 55 years, lost an attentive, caring husband. Eddie, (Teresa) and Mike Eitner lost a dad who brought wisdom and laughter to their lives. Ed's grandchildren, Logan (Erin) Eitner, Brooke Eitner (Zach Browning) and Jackson Eitner, lost a Papa who would do anything, absolutely anything at all for them. They were his pride and joy, and he was their beloved Papa, they loved him with all their hearts. Each one of you have a word that brings Ed to mind such as devout Catholic, patriot, golfer, Ohio State fan, student of the Bible, singer of songs, doer of good deeds. He was all of these and more.

Ed proudly served in the Navy for four years, with a tour of duty in Vietnam. He then joined the Army Reserve 3/92 nd Field Artillery where he served for 27 years and respectfully earned the name, Top, as the head NCO of his unit.

As a member of Nativity Catholic Church Ed ministered as a member of the choir, president of the St. Vincent DePaul, Lecter, Cantor, Eucharistic Minister, Eucharistic Home Minister, Commander of the Elmer Simon Post 304 Division of the Catholic War Veterans, along with being Third Vice for the State of Ohio. Currently, Ed also found time and enthusiasm to perform the duty of Councilman for the Village of Lakemore.

Those of you who are reading this knew Ed as a brother, brother-in-law, uncle, relative, coworker, Army buddy or friend. You all have "Ed" stories to share. Be sure to share those stories because they are probably good for a laugh, which we could use right now. But they also confirm the fact that our Ed was a good, good man. You are missed, Ed.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333.

Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday January 21, 2026 at 10:00 am at Nativity of The Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Rd. Akron, OH 44312. For those attending Mass, please meet at church.
