In Loving Memory
May 14, 1945 - July 25, 2025
Edward V. Flaherty, Jr., 80, of Montclair, VA passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 14, 1945 to Edward and Helen in Woonsocket, RI. Edward lived a life of service, faith and with deep devotion to his family. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and remained a patriot throughout his life. Edward was a Parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for over 40 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Edwin F. Kelley Council #5750.
Edward is proceeded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen and his brother Jimmy Flaherty along with a number of aunts and uncles.
Edward is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan, his four children Katie (Brian) Fox, Maureen, Pattie, and Peter (Kayla), grandchildren Allyson, Aiden, Brady, Kerrigan and Jameson, brother Raymond (Pauline) and sister Mary Rose Heffern, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
To know Ed was to know a man who valued his family above all else. His warmth, quiet strength and steady presence will be missed.
The family will have a visitation on Wednesday, August 13 from 6 to 8 pm at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home located at 4143 Dale Blvd. Dale City, VA 22193.
A mass will be held on Thursday, August 14 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 11 am at 18825 Fuller Heights Rd. Triangle, VA followed by a Christian burial at Quantico National Cemetery at 12:30 pm where Edward will be laid to rest.
