Edward W. Haberle, age 102 ½, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024.
Ed was born on February 28, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Florence Haberle. He married Margaret Woosnam on May 18, 1946 in Chicago.
Surviving are his daughters, Barbara (Roy) Carter of Beloit, WI and Beth (Phil) Salinardi of Chatham, NJ; his son-in-law, Bill Riddell of Sparland, IL; his grandchildren, Jenifer Bauer, Jay Riddell, Denise Carter, Bryan Carter, Rebeca Barbagallo and James Salinardi; 12 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Cooper, Blaze, Brayten, Alexis, Matt, Branden, Cameron, Harmony, Melody, Giovanni and Layla; four great-great-grandchildren; and his nephew, Rick Haberle. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Susanne Riddell; and his brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Ann Haberle.
Ed served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, traveling the South Pacific, Philippines and Okinawa aboard the USS Mayfield Victory AK323, an ammunition ship. He then worked in the insurance industry for most of his life, retiring from the Home Insurance Company in New York City. Ed enjoyed entertaining family and friends. The gatherings he and Marge would host were legendary!
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with burial at his family plot in Chicago. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Edward, please visit our Tree Store.
