Edward Haggan, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully in Stuart, Florida on July 20, 2023. He was a longtime resident of Hunterdon County, New Jersey and retired to Palm City, Florida in 2009.
Ed was born in Kearny, NJ to Edward and Jeannie Haggan on January 27, 1943. He attended North Arlington High School and subsequently joined the Navy in 1962. He then worked for Mack Trucks for 10 years, and later became the proprietor of a thriving trucking business in Newark, NJ. In 1984, he established himself as a home builder in Hunterdon, Somerset and Warren counties until he retired in 2008.
Ed loved fishing, camping, and hunting with his sons. He enjoyed many memorable vacations with his family. Ed was a lifelong boater. His boat was berthed in Atlantic City for 20 years where he made many lasting friendships.
Surviving family includes his wife of 58 years, Susan Hart Haggan; sons, Edward G. Haggan and his wife, Lynn, of Readington Township NJ, Steven A. Haggan of Alpha NJ, and Scott A. Haggan and his wife, Jill, of Reading PA. He had five beloved grandchildren, Stephanie N. Haggan, Alyssa S. Haggan, Edward Alexander Haggan, Madison L. Haggan and Olivia N. Keelen. Ed is predeceased by his loving parents and his brothers, Thomas H. Haggan and Gary W. Haggan.
Please join us in remembrance of Ed for a memorial service with military honors on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, 11:30 AM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Calling hour will be Tuesday from 10:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
