HICKMAN, Edward W. Jr., age 78, passed away Friday, September 26th, 2003 at his residence. Ed served as a World War II veteran in the United States Army and was a dedicated member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Dayton, OH for over 50 years where he served in various leadership roles. He also served as a member and past president of the Dayton Public Schools Board; Past lieutenant governor of Kiwanis International Club - Division 4 and president of the Dayton Breakfast Kiwanis Club. He not only entrenched himself in helping the community he loved, but also took delight in his role as dad and mentor. Ed possessed a smile and a laugh that would light up any room. The joy of the Lord was indeed his strength. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward W. And Henrietta Hickman; daughter, Anita Tweedle; brother, Charles R. Hickman. Survived by mothers of children, Anna Harris, Eloise Hickman; sons, Douglas Hickman of Dayton, Edward Hickman of Michigan, Lee Hickman of Alabama; daughter, Kappi (Tony) Hickman-Rogers of Dayton; Brother, Walter J. (Marguerite) Hickman; four grandchildren, Brian (Juliette) Scott of Columbus, OH, Anthony Dent, Aaliyah Hickman and Javion Mack, all of Alabama; special friend, Dr. Beverly Lee; sister-in-law, Roberta Hickman of Dayton; nephews and nieces, Walter Hickman, Jr., Judi (Derrick) Moore, Jacqueline (Dwight) Long, Cynthia Hickman, Jonathan Hickman, all of Dayton, Francis (Ernest) Jackson, of Maryland; a host of Grand nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
