Mr. Edward Eugene Hunsucker left this world of pain and suffering Sunday morning, August 17, 2025, surrounded by those closest to him.

Ed served his country in the Korean War from 1951 – 1956

Ed was a friendly face to many people during his 40+ years with Red Food / BiLo grocery stores. He was a produce specialist/manager at several locations and received many awards for his work. He even met his beloved angel Billie as she shopped at the store where he worked.

Ed was also known for his love of flowers, birds and of course his many, many fur babies over the years. He also loved working in his wood shop creating many things for their home and as gifts for family and friends.

Ed and Billie spent a lot of time travelling with Ed and Lavonia England, Billie's brother. There are countless stories of their vacations together over the years. When age began to slow them down, they simply enjoyed each other's companionship at their home in Hixson or in Mississippi where the England's lived.

After the loss of his angel, Billie, his latest fur baby, Lady, became his constant companion. He could often be seen riding his golf cart through the neighborhood with her on the seat beside him. He became Pops to all the neighbors and would stop his ride to chat with anyone who happened to be outside.

Ed was predeceased by his loving angel, Billie; his father, William D. Hunsucker; mother and step-father, Myrtle and Walter Harding. He was also predeceased by a special grandson, Sean "Sandy" Tucker; and step-son, Joe Crowley. Sisters, Virginia Horton and Delores Schaefer also preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Edward D. Harding and bonus son, Glenn Beavers; special granddaughter, Leesa Wright (Eric); special great-grandson, Jude Wright; daughter-in-law, Jody Crowley; and step-daughter, Sherry Tucker.

Services to honor the life of Edward E. Hunsucker will be conducted by Dr Tony Wilson at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 23, 2025 in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the funeral hour. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Pallbearers for Mr. Hunsucker will be Ed Harding, Glenn Beavers, Eric Wright, Rusty Howell, Greg Rosser and Sean East. Jude Wright as an honorary pallbearer.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful, caring staff at Adoration Hospice for their compassionate care, especially Janie and Tom Rumper and Jamie Lynn. The family also wishes to express thanks to Quilts of Valor for the quilt presentation in recognition of Mr. Hunsucker's military service.
