Edward Koczergo 74 of Ft. Wayne, Indiana passed Tuesday February 11 at 11:40 pm at Bailey's Hospice Center, St. Augustine, Florida.
Born on July 3, 1950 in Nieder-Weisel Germany to Albin and Zuzanna(Urbanik) Koczergo, Edward immigrated with his sister, mother and father when he was only a year old. The family settled in Madison Indiana where Ed's love of reading books and theater would blossom. He graduated from Shawe Memorial High School and then earned his Bachelor's(BA) and Master's(MA) degrees from St. Francis College in Ft. Wayne.
Ed (Mr.K) spent the first part of his life teaching and breathing drama, a passion that eventually saw his whole life through. Communicating through wild gestures, hunkering, and directing defined him. His teaching span included Bishop Luers, St. Therese, Homestead High School, Woodside Middle School-all of Ft. Wayne and Flagler Palm Coast and Flagler College-of St. Augustine. Aside from teaching and acting, he also loved to spend time golfing, fishing, and taking numerous trips to Europe to enjoy the arts, but especially the food and drink.
After retiring from teaching in Indiana he lived out the rest of his days in St. Augustine, Florida. Ed kept in a smaller "follow spot" and managed to entertain tourists with his love of the city through food and wine tours of his favorite haunts. Ed worked in a local wine shop and taught speech courses as a professor at Flagler college. He had a great network of close friends and managed to even make time for a dinner club (the boys).
Ed (Papa K) found much love as well with the addition of becoming a grandfather to Albin. Many have told of his endless picture sharing and beloved stories of his grandson.
As a director Ed preferred the cast receive the recognition, so he is directing us to celebrate his life through your own personal remembrance of him. Therefore, there will be no funeral services or viewing.
Surviving are Jacob (Megan) Koczergo, grandson Albin, sister Weronika (Lloyd) Feltner. Nieces; Kristie Joy Feltner, Sonja Mesawitz, Jessica Simon. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; Albin and Zuzanna. Siblings; Stanislaw, Andrew, Rose and Teresa. Nephews; Joshua, and Christopher.

Mr K was the first person to suggest that my attention seeking behavior might actually be evidence of a creative mind. He coached me through making absurd comedic videos in his filmmaking class, offering gentle criticism and lots of encouragement. His methods taught me that creativity is an open ended process that is to be engaged fully, with bravery and extreme intensity- while not taking yourself too seriously.

We are so sorry for your loss! Ed really enjoyed being with Albie! It was a great day at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo taking a boat ride.
