Edward Kory Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center - Buffalo Ridge on Mar. 24, 2025.
Edward J. Kory January 4, 1928 – March 19, 2025
Edward "Ed" Kory, 97, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 4, 1928, in Queens, New York, Ed lived a long and fulfilling life dedicated to his family, community, and country.
Ed was the youngest of seven children, all of whom predeceased him. He spent 38 years in Merrick, New York, before settling in The Villages, Florida, where he resided for 28 years. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Roseanne, and a loving father to his children, Edward, Joanne, Patricia, and Barbara. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Ed was a graduate of New York University and worked in Educational Sales for most of his life.
A true sports enthusiast, Ed had a deep love for baseball. He played minor league baseball and later dedicated 21 years to coaching Little League baseball and girls' softball, sharing his knowledge and passion for the game with young athletes. Later in life, golf became his favorite pastime, and he played weekly up until the remarkable age of 96.
Ed was a proud American and a dedicated veteran. As a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, he honorably served in World War II and was part of the occupation forces in Japan. His service to his country was a source of great pride, and he carried that patriotic spirit throughout his life.
Ed will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering love for his family, and his dedication to the things that brought him joy. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at St. Timothy's Church on April 8 at 8:30 AM. He will be laid to rest at Bushnell National Cemetery with military honors.
May he rest in peace.
