Edward Joseph Kovac Jr., 81, of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Bayshore Medical Center. Edward was born on March 10, 1943, in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, where he grew up. On October 9, 1976, Edward and his beloved wife, Lillian, were married and started their life together in Chatham, New Jersey. Edward and Lillian began their family together in Chatham and years later, settled in Holmdel, New Jersey. Before his retirement, Edward worked as an Engineer for Bell Labs in Holmdel for many years. Edward loved planning trips and enjoyed traveling with his family, both within the United States and abroad. In his spare time, he also enjoyed playing tennis and golfing. Most of all, Edward was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Louise (Klendawick) and Edward Joseph Kovac. Edward is survived by his loving wife, Lillian (Nunheimer) Kovac, his loving children, Katherine Staton and her husband, Robert, of Vermont, Peter Kovac of Vermont, his dear brother, James Kovac of Rhode Island, his sister-in-law, Karen Nunheimer, brother-in-law, Thomas Nunheimer and his wife, Karen Ann, and his cherished grandson, Denny Staton.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. Interment will follow at approximately 12:30 PM at Holmdel Cemetery, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Edward to Doctors Without Borders and/or Monmouth County SPCA would be greatly appreciated.
