Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park EastEdward Ching Liang, 78, passed away surrounded by the love of his family and friends on October 4, 2025. Edward was born on February 15, 1947, in a country side town called Miaoli, in Taiwan. He was one of five boys in the family.
Edward was a man who was never afraid to speak his mind and lived life with confidence and determination. On a whim, Edward courageously left his home in Taiwan and started his life in America without knowing anyone. He traveled the US in various states such as New York, New Jersey, Arizona, North Carolina and Indiana where, through his letters and penmanship, he met his love, Susan. A devoted provider, he worked tirelessly for his family and took great pride in starting his own restaurant – a testament to his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. After the restaurant, Edward worked various jobs from delivery to warehouse to retail to help provide for their three kids and put each through college, while still dreaming of winning the lottery or becoming a famous golfer. Edward had a life-long passion for tasty food, especially meat, and constantly sought out unique and exotic dishes. Edward was a sports fan, who enjoyed cheering on various teams, including the Pittsburg Steelers. He also enjoyed watching sports and playing golf and even tried to teach his kids how to play.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Susan Liang; children Patricia Mousseau, Bernice Liang and Jonathan Liang & son-in-law, Chris Mousseau; sibling Liang Fuquan; and grandchildren, Giovanni and Luciano DeGiuli.
He is preceded in death by his parents (Liang Hesheng & Liang Zhang Yuye) and 3 out of his 4 brothers back home in Taiwan (Liang Fucheng, Liang Yingliang, and Liang Fuluo).
Visitation for Edward will take place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 10:00-11:00am at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East Funeral Home, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am with burial at Washington Park East Cemetery. Family and friends are encouraged and invited to come back to the funeral home for a meal beginning at 12:30pm.
