Edward "Ed" Lee McKinney Sr. 69, of Fulton, passed away peacefully at his home on October 30, 2025.
He was born on July 17, 1956, in Fulton to the late Barbara Ann B.A. (Pace) McGrath.
In July of 1975, Ed proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served aboard the USS Benjamin Franklin (SSBN-640) Gold Crew as a Nuclear Ballistic Technician, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Award, CO's Citation, and FBM Patrol Pin 2 stars. Ed worked for Vaughn's Manufacturing in Salisbury Massachusetts until he returned to Fulton and began a dedicated career with the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center in 1998, serving as a corrections officer for 22 years before his retirement.
A proud third generation Mason, Ed valued tradition, hard work, and loyalty. Outside of work, he enjoyed bowling and shooting at the range. He especially loved celebrating the Fourth of July and lighting up the sky with fireworks. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Those that remain to cherish Ed's memory are his sons, Edward Lee McKinney Jr. (Sarah), Talon McKinney, Pace McKinney (Kathlyn "Kat" Dawson); daughter, Jill Davison (Tom Smith); sister, Cathi Ramirez; grandchildren, Edward Lee McKinney III, Jasmine McKinney, Isabel Delvalle; great grandchild, Kamari Rowland, along with a grandchild and great grandchild on the way.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother B.A.
Memorial services will be held at Maupin Funeral Home on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 6:00 pm with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Fulton VFW Post 2657, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251.
