Edward Mockridge Jr.

Edward Harry Mockridge, Jr., 75, passed away surrounded by his wife and daughters on January 15, 2024. Ed to his friends, he was a New Jersey native who was a track star in high school. He was also a proud alumnus of Lehigh University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, Ed took his first job in Canton, Ohio where he started his 44 year career in the boiler industry. In 1977, he and his family moved to Georgia. He fell in love with the Atlanta area and never left, eventually retiring and moving to Hoschton.
Ed was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking and building model ships. He loved St. Simons Island, his dogs, and, most of all, his family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Laura, and their daughters, Staci Lell (Jeff) of Decatur and Christina of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his brother, Richard of Duluth, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marie.
There is a memorial service at Celebration Church in Hoschton on Sunday, January 21 at 2 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the causes Ed spoke of funding with his imagined lottery winnings: PAWS Atlanta and the building fund One Celebration at Celebration Church.
