Edward J. O'Neill, 84, of Stamford, CT passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marie O'Neill (Tassitano), his daughter and son, Kimberly and Eddie O'Neill, and his two grandchildren, Charles Edward O'Neill and Ella Jayne O'Neill and his beloved cat, Captain Jack. Edward was predeceased by his beautiful mother, Rhoda Fitzsimmons O'Neill and his father, Edward O'Neill of Sarasota FL and his four older siblings: Charles O'Neill of Frankfurt, Germany, Rhoda Futterman of Stuart, FL and Albert O'Neill of Walterboro, SC. Edward proudly served his Country enlisting in the US Navy, spending a majority of his four years on the aircraft carrier, USS Saratoga. Shortly after his service time, Ed met and married his wife of almost 60 years, Marie. Together, they moved their family to Darien where they resided for many happy years with a myriad of wonderful memories. In addition to his family and grandchildren, Edward considered his sobriety one of his greatest blessings. Throughout his more than 50-year journey in AA, Edward became a pillar of strength and hope to many; welcoming and helping those in need of a healthier path in life was his mission. He remained stern to the principles and practices of what was taught to him, because all of this is what helped him be a man of great ethics, love, and honor. He has made many, many friends over the last 50 years, spreading that kind of message. Ed was a very successful and talented craftsman and General Contractor for more than 45 years. He was a gentleman, who was fair and honest with everyone who had the pleasure of doing business with him. He will be missed by many. Visitation hours will take place on Monday, August 25th from 4pm to 6pm at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT followed by a Prayer Service at 6pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please donate to: https://autismsociety.org/ or The American Heart Association. To the Family of Ed O'Neill:
Please accept my sincere and heartfelt condolences at the passing of Ed O'Neill. He was a gentleman to the core. He helped and guided my dear friend and neighbor, Bjorn Elander (who has since passed) through his monumental journey to attempt to achieve sobriety. Ed would drive Bjorn to meetings and check in on him to guide him. Ed will be welcomed in God's Kingdom. May all your memories of Ed be those of the better golden days you shared with him. He will be very missed.
