Edward "Nelson" Pratt, JR. , 80 of rural Meriden, died Friday, July 4, 2025 at home. He was born October 9, 1944 at Topeka, KS, the son of Edward N. Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Wikidal Pratt. He married Linda Simmons Longstaff on June 16, 1984 at Rock Creek Bible Church, Meriden, KS. Nelson enjoyed golf, watching his grandchildren play sports, water skiing, the Kaw Valley Wood Carvers, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
He served his country as a Marine Reservist for 16 years. He graduated from Highland Park High School class of 1962 and attended Emporia State for two years. He worked for ATSF and BNSF Railroad for 38 years. He attended and was a member of Rock Creek Bible Church for 41 years, and was a member of the American Legion Post 225 in Ozawkie, KS. He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home, his sister, Sharon Stark of Topeka, his children, Scarlett Pratt, Brandi Bolin, Ed (Alice) Longstaff, Lora Longstaff, and Caree (Ron) Cramer, 10 grandchildren, Savannah Reece, Garrett Reece, Alexsus Bolin, Cora (Adam) Becker, Robby Bolin, Holly Longstaff, Nicholas Longstaff, Laney White, Ronnie Cramer, and Michael (Chelsa) Shughart and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials suggested to St. Jude's Children's Children's Hospital or American Veteran's Association. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Rock Creek Bible Church, 5257 K-92 hwy, Meriden, KS 66512. Funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 11, 2025 at the church. Burial with U.S. Marine Honors at 2:00 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Severance, KS. Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, is assisting the family.
