Edward H. Treffinger

Edward Herman Treffinger, age 93, passed away peacefully with his children by his side. Eddie was born January 9, 1930 to Fred and Myrtle Treffinger in Newark, NJ. Eddie was the second of four children.
Eddie married the love of his life, Ruth, on July 16, 1950. They were blessed with five children, Michael, David, Thomas, Daniel and Linda. They shared nearly 73 years of marriage before Ruth passed in June of this year. We don't know a couple more devoted to each other than Eddie and Ruthie.
Eddie was a hard-working man who loved being a butcher and providing for his family. Along with his love for family, Eddie was a devout Catholic and was always so grateful for what the Lord gave him. He had an unbreakable spirit and always focused on the positive side of things. Eddie was an incredibly, naturally strong man, who seemed to have the strength of three men. Eddie had a deep connection with animals and gardening and incorporated both into most of his lifetime. Eddie raised farm animals and many pets and throughout his life loved feeding birds. Eddie had a great sense of humor and enjoyed poking fun whenever the opportunity arose. Eddie was an avid golfer and loved to tell about the times he would play for money and win.
Eddie, Dad, Papa, Pop-Pop, is sorely missed here on Earth but we rejoice in knowing he is reunited with his dear Ruthie.
Eddie is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Carolyn; son David; son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Sherry; son and daughter-in-law Dan and Lisa; daughter and daughter-in-law Linda and Stacey; grandchildren Sarah Beth and husband Adam Wood; Laura; Evan and Jarrod; as well as his great grandchildren Daniel, Catherine, John and Andrew Wood; and also his brother Teddy.
Please join us in celebrating his incredible almost 94 years of life on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 9am-9:30am at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A mass of Christian burial will be offered Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 10am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Berkeley Twp. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
